3 Days before the show

Yesterday was such a long day! In the morning we had a final line up and everything looked great and after this Amy send me out to get a grey piping, a grey strap for the bag and three garment bags.

Firstly I went to Finchley in the store 'Finishing Touches' but I only found the piping so I had to travel to Shepperd's Bush to get the strap. I've lost my way somewhere in Finchley and then I saw a bus that was going to Tottenham Court Road and I jumped in and I managed to go to the station later and get the central line. I searched for a specific stall that sells trimmings but I unfortunately they didn't have the colour that I was searching for. Although, I did my damage before I left from there, I threw down a basket full of ribbons and I was chasing them to put them back but at least the owner didn't get upset, she only laughed with my clumsiness. At the end of the day, I found the appropriate grey strap and from a shop that I've been before but I've never noticed they were selling trimmings. I learned something new as well.

Later on, I went to 'Morplan' and got the garment bags and besides the delay in the underground I returned successfully and Amy was satisfied with everything.

Today, it was a bit relaxing for me in comparison with yesterday. I started by cleaning a fabric then I sewed the buttons in the two shirts, did a hemline again because she alternetate the trousers and made them shorter.I also cut the fabrics for the bag and the i-pad case and put masking tape in 3 pairs of shoes so Amy can return them after the show. Then I was dismissed and I'm back to work tomorrow morning again!

The Week before the Internal Show

Only two words can describe these days. Cut and fabric. I became an expert in this. The atmosphere in the studios is so intense because everyone is so stressed to finish their garments on time. Besides from cutting I did and some more enjoyable tasks.

I went to Holloway to pick up the dissertation of Amy from Colis- Bird & Wit hey. The bookshop was a lovely place! A little bit hidden but I've managed to find it and I'm absolutely sure that in two years from now I'm gonna go there again, for my dissertation.they did an amazing job!

What I enjoyed most though is when I had to puffed a jacket. The initial plan was to stuffed it with down feathers but when I went to ask prices it was really expensive so we end up ripping a pillow and get its filling to put it in the jacket. It was such fun for me that day and I was so proud afterwards, it was like that I gave life into that jacket!

I end up my week by cutting more fabric and doing some hand stitching; i put the trousers; hooks and also their hemline.

Internship

The First Impressions

Two days after my final year fashion show I had my first meeting with my third year student and we discussed about her project, the idea behind it and I found it very original and clever. Is for menswear which I never  tried to do it before but after seeing these, I really looking forward to do menswear as well. I had and my first task on Friday, do some pattern pieces for an i-pad case. It was fun and we were sharing ideas as well. On Monday it was the line-up and I helped her to dress the models and then I watched the procedure and now I know how things will work for me in my final year. I've learned new places for fabrics and printing which is very useful and today I did the patterns for a backpack and I've learned and some new methods in pattern cutting and afterwards I cut her real fabrics and I was surprised how very neat I cut them. It's because it was someone else's fabrics and her real ones, when it comes to cut mine , well, I don't cut them so nicely. I'm really excited with this internship because I'm gaining so much knowledge and I'm willing to help her as much as I can.
